Ohio Department of Job and Family Services New postings regarding upcoming HCCQC and Task Force meetings have been posted on the Meeting and Activities page! Established by the Ohio General Assembly in July 2009 following its initial creation by an Executive Order from Governor Ted Strickland, the Ohio Health Care Coverage and Quality Council continues a public-private partnership designed to improve the coverage, cost, and quality of Ohio’s health insurance and health care system. The Council builds on Ohio’s participation in two national programs, the State Coverage Initiative (SCI) and the State Quality Improvement Institute, which produced two separate but related reports: Covering Ohio’s Uninsured, issued in July 2008; and the Ohio Health Quality Improvement Plan, issued in June 2009. The Council will work to advance the recommendations contained in those reports by bringing together public and private health care leaders, with state legislators, to encourage and implement strategies that will improve the quality and efficiency of the health care system. The Council consists of over 30 members from the provider, payer, consumer, and policy communities. State agencies responsible for heath care and insurance delivery and oversight are represented, as is the Ohio General Assembly. The Council encourages and provides regular opportunities for public comment. Council meetings are held bi-monthly, beginning in July 2009. Among the Council’s initial priorities will be the creation of task forces specifically to advance the recommendations from the Ohio Quality Improvement Plan in:
Additional priorities will be based on the responsibilities defined in statute with Council guidance. An annual report on Council activities will be issued in December 2009. |
